The Unraveling

Luke 8:17 (NASB) “For nothing is hidden that shall not become evident, nor anything secret that shall not be known and come to light.

During the last few weeks we have and likely will continue to experience Luke 8:17 on a global scale. Reports of sexual harassment, sexual misconduct, sexual assault, keep coming through the news media. These are the crimes most of them may have thought were okay. Hidden in the darkness of a secret never to be exposed.  But now are coming into the light!

I suspect a large percentage of these reported crimes were committed during a time when it may have been the norm and acceptable. Or maybe women should have expected this to happen in their world or profession.

I also believe these are the same men who would kill if another man committed the same crime against their daughter, wife, mother, sister, or niece. Or would they?

We are witnessing the unraveling of lives because of sexual crimes committed against another person for purely selfish reasons. Women are coming forth and shining a light on the truth from their past because of forced sexual attention. Thus; men are finding out what they thought was a secret, and lived in darkness has now come to light. But where there is light there is hope.

I found hope in Morgan Spurlock’s article dated Dec 14, 2017, 11:28 AM EST CBS NEWS Morgan Spurlock Confession when he said: “When will they come for me?” What a powerful question for any man to ask himself during these unraveling times.

This is the time when I would ask men to ponder this question in their hearts “When will they come for me?” and make a joint confession and commitment much like Spurlock’s.

A joint confession and commitment

I confess, I have cause ______________ (name or names of person (s) hurt and pain through sexual mistreatment and I ________________ (your name) am sorry for the mental, and emotional anguish and the scars brought about because of my selfish desires.

I want to be part of the solution to an age-old problem that is unraveling in the lives of women in today’s society.

If you can make this joint confession and commitment, I applaud you!
