I Wish I Were a Butterfly

Dr. J. M. Kelley

I wish I were a butterfly so that I could fly far, far away.

Where I might be seen for the beautiful creature that I am.

Somewhere the sun can warm my face, and that warmth reach my soul.

Free to fly here and there, free to fly everywhere, free to do nothing at all.

To be lighter than air floating on a breeze.

Having faith that God has me in His loving arms of care.

Softly whispering the feelings of my heart.

Finally, I have made it no longer a restrained caterpillar.

I am now that beautiful butterfly that you see gliding along the way.

I am a butterfly and I am free.butterflyphoto

When I think of domestic violence/abuse I think of butterflies. In the midst of my own story, I would see myself as a blue butterfly floating on a gust of wind, not a care in the world.  Finally free.

No one should have to suffer abuse, my heart and prayers are with those that have suffered and endured, those that have come out and those that are still there.

Float away if only in your mind, you will and shall be free.

God’s peace and blessings to you.
