2021 Is Fully Come

2021 Is Fully Come

The diary is fully written.

The medicine is fully taken,

The quarantine fully expired,

The awards fully earned.

The time is fully come.

It’s 2021!

The bag or box marked 2020 is stuffed and sealed.

2021 is open to begin.

Will it be filled with hope or despair?

I get to choose.

I didn’t choose the virus.

I didn’t choose the loss of mobility.

I didn’t choose the loss of business,

The loss of family.

I didn’t choose despair in 2020,

Yet it came!

2020 was long.

Quarantines were long.

School closings went on and on.

The wait for vaccines was long,

Though cut short I think.

2020 gave us trouble, fear,

Distance from one another,

Forgetting of faces.

Here’s what I will do now that 2021 is fully come.

Drum roll, please.

I will forgive 2020!

Yes, in the abundance God, I can choose to forgive 2020.

I can choose to absorb the cost, forgive, and never look back.

I can choose hope rather than despair.
