Choose Hope

By Pauline Lee

The past year has been extremely challenging. Loss of loved ones, loss of jobs, loss of good health, loss of the ability to travel, loss of hugs with family and friends, increased pricing in gas, food, and housing, depression, mental exertion, failure, loneliness, criticism, and more. We are overwhelmed, overextended, overstressed, indecisive, discouraged, and disillusioned. The air conditioner breaks down on the hottest days of the year, the car brakes need repairing, and none of it seems to make sense. We struggle with holding on to HOPE.

Proverbs 13:12a reads, “Hope deferred makes the heart sick.” NKJV

As we look at our circumstances and the world around us, the truth of this statement is confirmed. I must admit, sometimes it is hard to see our way through, but I am reminded that.

Psalm 42:5 has an answer: “Why are you cast down, O my soul? And why are you disquieted within me?
HOPE in GOD, for I shall yet praise Him for the help of His countenance.” NKJV

In the midst of all that is going on around us, we must Choose Hope! Most people understand hope as wishful thinking, as in “I hope something will happen.” But I submit to you that Hope is a “confident expectation”. Hope is a firm assurance regarding things that are not clear. We must Choose Hope. We must make a conscious decision to put our trust in God. No matter what is going on in our lives, the good news is this, we woke up this morning and we have a clean slate to start all over again. Without hope, life loses its meaning and in death, there is no hope. Hope is produced by endurance through suffering. By contrast, those who do not place their trust in God are said to be without hope.

As believers, we CHOOSE Hope, not despair. We CHOOSE Hope, not hatred. We CHOOSE Hope, not unforgiveness. Hope is freely given and we can all have it. It is a choice. When the way seems dark, life seems unfair, and people are cruel……Choose Hope! Stand strong and with the expectation that it is working in your favor. Hope produces joy and peace. Stay strong because we never fight the battle alone. Choose Hope, for He is building greatness. Hope is our anchor. It helps us remain steadfast and trusting in His promises. He is working things out for good. He hears our prayers. He sees all and knows all. He has a purpose for our pain and brings hope for a better future. Choose Hope!

Be Healthy! Be Happy!! Be Blessed!!!
