because

I couldn’t give it a name until years later

But when I asked you why, you said Because

I asked you why again?

And you said Because

I asked you why again?

And you said it again, Because

You hurt me and I bled and I asked you why?

And you said Because

Why did you want to hurt me like that?

And you said Because

Why did you believe what others told you? Why?

And you said Because

Why didn’t you believe me?

You said Because

How could you say you love me and still hurt me?

And you said Because

I trusted you, so why did you hurt me?

And you still said Because

I don’t understand

And you said Because

I wonder if now if you would still say

Because?

As survivors, we often ask the same questions over and over again and hope one day the answer won’t matter.

“KNOCKED DOWN, BUT NOT KNOCKED OUT!!” II CORINTHIANS 4:8-9

We may be troubled on every side, yet not distressed; we are perplexed, but not in despair; Persecuted, but not forsaken; cast down, but not destroyed.
